When not visiting family, our vacations include trips to distant bike paths or to the nearby Monon Trail.
Other times, we travel to water. We have enjoyed whitewater rafting, boating on lakes and rivers, racing outboard hydroplanes, walking on frozen Lake Webster, hiking along the shores of Lake Michigan, and walking the beaches of the Gulf of Mexico and the Pacific Ocean. Road trips often include detours to the joining of rivers — like the confluence of the Ohio and Mississippi, or the White and the Wabash, or the Wabash and the Ohio, or the Flatrock and the Driftwood, or the Wabash and Deer Creek — so tom can wade in and plant one foot in each flow. Our home is on White River.
At home, we enjoy tom’s inventive cooking — like rutabaga soup, rutabaga fries or hot & sour soup.
