"I'd like to find the guy who said that and put a level on his head!" -- Wisconsin resident, commenting on the marketing claim that the Elroy-Sparta Trail has only a six percent grade

Elroy-Sparta is one of the two grandmothers of rail trails, and is a wonderful vacation destination. It's 32 miles long, traveling through rolling Wisconsin dairyland, and it's a great mix of grade and flat. Three times, the trail passes through long tunnels that are a cooling relief on the hottest day.

The Little Miami Trail is part of a vernal necklace that connects Cincinnati, Xenia, Springfield and Dayton, Ohio. This group is enjoying a break near the historical landmark called Fort Ancient, which was a Native American settlement.

This is the view looking west from the Great River Trail outside Lacrosse, Wisconsin. Beyond Lake Onalaska is the Mississippi River and the hills of Minnesota.

The Sugar River Trail is a great place for riding and enjoying some Wisconsin German cuisine.
